Rivers of India: On the Verge to End

Estimated read time 4 min read

Rivers are our life giving mothers which play a crucial role in our lives, but we human beings are not thinking about them even a single time.

The condition of many rivers is very dreadful and it is becoming much more hard to revive these rives as much time passes, like one of the major and the holiest river Yamuna is moving towards an end in many ways like discharge of sewage water and toxic effluents which make the water of excessively bad and polluted.

Slowly Ma Yamuna is drying causing drought like conditions which made so many people who can’t afford tanker struggle for water this year in Delhi.

However, the rich people still don’t care about all this as they can easily afford a tanker but don’t worry when mother nature will eradicate them by herself.

Ganga the sacred and the purest river who makes everyone pure and free from sins, the river who flows from Mahadeva’s hairs.

Ma Ganga is now drying up and polluted from the discharge of toxic effluents form leather industries and many other factories and it is said based on a research that Ma ganga will dry and come to an end till 2032 as the Gaumukh glacier is melting quickly due to global warming.

Godavari the India’s second largest river after Ganga also called the Dakshini or Burhi Ganga, in the banks of Godavari is where Shri Ram spent a few years of his exile.

But this huge river is getting dried from many places and is moving towards an end.

Mahanadi which means Huge River as once Mahanadi was a very gigantic river but nowadays this is only the name because Mahanadi’s majority portion is dried and the situation of the river is very bad.

Narmada another river that is also very long and but this river is also not in a much better condition and is getting dried.

Apart from all this we Human beings should be ashamed of ourselves as the conditions of our life giving mothers is regrettable and if we call them our mothers so is not our duty to protect and save them, but it can’t be seen happening.

When we do cleaning of river banks people see us as if we are aliens but don’t and simply throw garbage in the banks of rivers which slowly dissolves in rivers we humans still don’t care about all this.

There is a ritual for sacred rivers like Ganga, Narmada ect. which is to do morning and Sandhya Arti that is for increasing the devotion towards our rivers but real devotion will also be when we will start taking steps to protect them otherwise be ready to fall prey to mother nature’s fury.

There are many times we have seen people drinking alcohol near Ma Narmada we have also found tons of glass bottles of alcohol and garbage near the Ghats and banks of Narmada, the condition is also the same of other rivers.

So is this not shameful for us that we are doing this to our mothers?

This makes it very clear that we are using rivers for our own selfish reasons

We are fully responsible for this condition of our rivers but still we are careless about all this already it is too late to revive our mothers but still we can give one more try to save rivers if not so it is needless to say that we all are paving our way towards our own extinction, it has started already mother nature is in full rage and her ferocious attack is getting unstoppable.
